We always enjoy our time in Ashland, Oregon. Whether our visit to Southern Oregon is business or pleasure depends on the type of hotel we select. For this instance, we were concluding a road trip from San Diego, California, back to our home in Oregon and simply needed an affordable, clean hotel for one night. Holiday Inn Express & Suites Ashland fit the criteria for cleanliness and affordability, in addition to ease of access to the freeway.
This IHG property in Ashland is small compared to some Holiday Inn hotels we’ve visited. With only 65 hotel rooms, Holiday Inn Express & Suites Ashland works for people and pets. The 3-story, 2-star property is fairly cookie-cutter when it comes to Holiday Inn hotels. From the layout of the rooms down to the artwork, it doesn’t stray from the brand.
That said, the front desk staff is welcoming and upgraded us from a king standard to a king suite on the 3rd floor of the hotel. You, too, might be able to snag an upgrade if you are an IHG rewards member and the hotel has availability.

Holiday Inn Express & Suites Ashland room types
With 45 rooms and 20 suites, all include high-speed, wireless internet, HDTV, microwave, and minifridge. As our room, #323, is a suite, we have a 50″ flat screen tv across from our king bed. A smaller television is across from the sofa bed next to our bedroom. There is also an in-room Keurig coffee maker.
The hotel offers Sealey Posturepedic mattresses and new IHG bedding. I also like that all Holiday Inn Express & Suites offer both firm and soft pillows.
Our bathroom included a single sink with a tub/shower combination. The bathroom amenities were a combination of J.R. Watkins and Dove bath lotion and soap. If you are looking for an Ashland hotel with mineral water soaking tubs, you’ll want to check out my review of Lithia Springs Resort.
Ashland Holiday Inn Express & Suites amenities
In addition to the fitness center, there is an indoor pool at this Ashland hotel. Pool hours are 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.
The hotel is not walking distance to downtown, but is close enough that you’ll want to visit. Don’t miss Lithia Park or the many shops and restaurants. I always try to stop at Em’z Blends Soap Company for my favorite shampoo and ChapStick, as well as Branson’s Chocolates for salted caramels. It’s always nice to support the mom-and-pop local businesses.
Holiday Inn Express & Suites Ashland meals
While you can always count on Holiday Inn Express & Suites hotels for a complimentary breakfast, there is no restaurant on the property. We were recommended to El Paraiso for a good Mexican dinner next to the Ashland hotel.
The breakfast is what we’ve come to expect at Holiday Inn Express. Breakfast is served from 6:30 – 9:30 a.m. on weekdays and 6:30 – 10:00 a.m. on weekends. Our breakfast includes hot dishes of cream gravy with sausage for biscuits, as well as pre-made omelets. There is also a make-your-own pancake machine and a toaster for bread and bagels. Additionally, there is yogurt, dry cereal, instant oatmeal cups, fresh fruit, and hard-boiled eggs.
Room rates range from $99 – $189 + tax, depending on the season and events taking place in Ashland, Oregon. The hotel is pet-friendly and charges a one-time fee of $35 per stay. Please note that not all Holiday Inn hotels are dog-friendly. The hotel offers AAA rates and is a member of the IHG rewards program. You can also reserve a room on your favorite hotel booking site.
