With a trio of properties in Napa Valley, I think it’s fair to say the Auberge Resorts Collection is a fan of Northern California wine country. All of the luxury properties are distinctly different from one another. The Restaurant at Auberge du Soleil in Rutherford has been awarded a Michelin Star for 17 consecutive years. In Calistoga, Solage features a trio of geothermal mineral pools. The brand’s newest offering, Stanly Ranch, is set on more than 700 vineyard-studded acres about a 10-minute drive from downtown Napa.
Opened in 2022, the wine country resort features 135 rooms in 78 cottage-esque, single-story buildings. Winding pathways make it feel more like a neighborhood than a hotel. (The resort is also home to Stanly Ranch Residences, although the residential community is located in a separate area of the property.)
Check-in is fast and efficient, with the paperwork side of things handled electronically via tablets. Room keys take the form of somewhat stylish bracelets; I appreciated not worrying about losing my room key, but I could see how other guests might prefer a standard keycard.
Accommodations
I stayed in room 29, an Arbor King Cottage guestroom. Auberge Resorts Collection describes the design as “modern farmhouse.” Soaked in natural light, the room’s neutral color palette casts an inviting vibe from the moment you step in the door.
Along with a king bed, the room features a sofa and a coffee table. Huge sliding glass doors open to an expansive terrace featuring a daybed, a small table, and a gas fire pit.
A sliding barn door separates the living area from the spa-inspired bathroom. Heated floors are one of my favorite bathroom amenities; that said, the spacious shower leading to a second outdoor shower is memorable and a stellar spot to stargaze. Those who prefer a good soak at the end of the day will enjoy the freestanding tub.
Along with refreshing the room, turndown service included local lavender honey made in-house. Guests are encouraged to enjoy it with tea or a warm glass of water before climbing into bed.

The list of amenities at Stanly Ranch is long. Napa Valley wine country is its backyard, but it’s the type of property worthy of checking in and enjoying staying put.
The Halehouse spa goes well beyond traditional pampering options such as massage and facials. Treatments ranging from Hyperbaric oxygen therapy, Reiki, and cold plunge baths round out the wellness offerings. All resort guests receive complimentary access to the tepidarium, salt therapy room, cedar sauna, and steam room, daily from 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM. The gym and movement studio, also complimentary for resort guests, are open 24 hours a day.
An adults-only pool is located just outside Halehouse. The resort’s main swimming pool, the Lavender Pool — aptly named because a grove of lavender surrounds it — is the livelier of the two settings, as the resort’s family pool is located steps away.
Dining Options
Bear is the signature restaurant at Stanly Ranch. Set aside an evening on your wine country itinerary to enjoy dinner here. Standouts include the Peppercorn-Crusted Short Rib (plan on sharing), Crispy Rice, and Farm Vegetables with a cashew-miso dip.
Many of the offerings on the crudité and other dishes are harvested from Stanly Ranch’s onsite chef’s garden known as The Grange. Odds are good you’ll spot Farm Director Nick Runkle harvesting crops from the garden for the Bear Kitchen. If Runkle is offering tours or workshops during your stay, don’t miss the opportunity to join in. You’ll take home knowledge you can use in your own backyard long after your stay in Napa Valley.
Good to Know
