Ramada Plaza Antalya by Wyndham: Modern and good for groups.

The amenities and location made the Ramada Plaza Antalya by Wyndham a top-of-mind choice during my recent visit to Türkiye. The hotel has a primo position overlooking the Mediterranean Sea with a stunning Taurus Mountains backdrop. It is within walking distance of the Old Town. Plus, it is close to Antalya Expo Center.

This was a place good for groups, similar but also quite different from the hotel I had come from in Istanbul.

A stunning and spacious lobby in the Ramada Plaza Antalya.

Built in 2009, the 17-floor high-rise has 315 guest rooms. Because of its size, the hotel is popular with those needing proximity to the airport and business travelers.  I’m sure they appreciate (as did I) the airport shuttle and 24-hour front desk.

Not Exactly as Expected, but No Problem

I arrived around 9 p.m., and the check-in was smooth. The lobby had a convivial atmosphere, and guests sat on comfy couches conversing. Fronting the space were retail boutiques offering high-end gifts and clothing.

When I entered my room on the 6th floor, I was greeted with a waft of hot air. Not what I expected. An explanation was posted by the thermostat. There was no air conditioning in the winter and no heat in the summer. I was there in November,  the start of winter.

My room had a sweet balcony with great view of the Taurus Mountains.

It wasn’t a problem, though. I turned up the fan, turned off the heat, and opened the balcony doors. Thankfully, the room cooled down quickly.

A Variety of Rooms in the Ramada Plaza Antalya

My room was a Deluxe Standard with a partial sea view. It had a comfy King bed, a love seat, a desk, a chair, and a sweet little balcony. In addition, there was a coffee/tea maker, mini-fridge, and a flatscreen TV.

The wi-fi was free, and the mini-fridge contained two bottles of complimentary water. I was there with a group and didn’t need it, but I learned parking was complimentary.

The front desk clerk told me that the economy rooms are smaller and have similar amenities, but no balcony. He also noted that family rooms had two bedrooms and one bathroom with one double and two single beds. Plus, there were suites with balconies for up to three guests with a king bed and a sofa bed.

Extra Amenities for Leisure and Fitness

In the morning, I nosed around and saw the hotel had an outdoor pool and an indoor pool. Also, there was a well-equipped gym, a sauna, and a Turkish bath.

The Ramada Plaza Antalya is a good spot to have a meeting, with a 2,200-person event space.

A Great Breakfast is Included at the Ramada Plaza Antalya

The most important amenity, however, was the free breakfast. I had to walk outside and down some steps to get to Moods Restaurant.

A large, colorful space, the restaurant featured numerous counters with cold meats and cheeses, fresh fruit, breads, and pastries. Plus, there were hot Turkish dishes and a station to order omelets and other egg dishes. I was amazed by the variety of olives and cheeses on offer.

It was a bit cold the morning I was there, but in good weather, you can sit on the terrace. It’s a great place to enjoy a coffee while taking in the stunning view of turquoise water and towering Taurus mountains.

Other food and beverage options are Indigo’s Pub and Ristorante Verona, which features Italian fare.

What to do Nearby

I was lucky enough to visit the Antalya Archaeological Museum and was amazed at the number of ancient artifacts and sculptures. It gave me a look at the multi-layered history of the region. Also nearby was the Hasim Iscan Culture Center and Opera House. Sports fans will be happy to know the Antalyaspor Stadium Complex is a short drive from the hotel.
