Bend, Oregon offers plenty of hotels to relax and recharge when planning a Central Oregon vacation. If your plans include shopping, skiing, biking or golfing, The Newberry Hotel Tapestry Collection by Hilton is your best bet.
The 117-room Hilton Hotel was formerly a DoubleTree property. Located steps from downtown Bend, the Central Oregon hotel now falls under the Tapestry Collection. What does that mean for you? This boutique hotel offers excellent customer service with a unique style and independent spirit aligned with the high desert location.
If you are a skier or mountain biker, you’ll appreciate that The Newberry Hotel is located 30 minutes from Mount Bachelor. Those flying into Central Oregon from the Redmond Airport will have a 25-minute drive, weather permitting. Ideally situated in downtown, the hotel is 1 mile from the Old Mill District and steps to more restaurants than you’ll have time to conquer.
Our 4-night stay was in September when leaves begin to change colors, and the night air drops to cooler temperatures. We were fortunate to be in a king suite with plenty of room to spread out. Our hotel room included a sofa bed in the main suite, as well as a king bed in a separate room.
The suite included a wet bar with mini fridge, microwave oven, and Cuisinart coffee maker, as well as an under counter safe. A desk with swivel chair and lamp was next to the kitchenette. Both rooms included a 39-inch HDTV. There was a sofa bed in the main room, as well as a small table for two.
The bathroom included a walk-in shower with Crabtree and Evelyn bath amenities. Bonus points for the refillable shower gel and lotion containers mounted to the wall. (I loathe single use plastic bottles.) The bathroom sink was outside the shower and toilet, good layout for couples or family members. A hairdryer, bar soap and makeup remover wipe were included.
As expected of a Tapestry Collection by Hilton, the king bed was comfortable with good quality pillows and sheets. Slippers would have been nice in the suite of this 3-star hotel. Fortunately, I travel with my own slippers.
As a Hilton Honors member, we received 2 plastic water bottles. We also had the option of digital check-in with the Hilton app.

Newberry Hotel Franklin Restaurant
While breakfast is not included with your stay, Franklin Restaurant is worth a try. I ordered the Greek yogurt with fresh fruit and granola while my husband enjoyed the breakfast taco duo. If you appreciate a fine, hand-crafted pastry, don’t miss the Ocean Roll from local Sparrow Bakery.
Things like a box of Goody’s chocolate from the gift shop or the option to order Sparrow Bakery items at the hotel restaurant make The Newberry Hotel worthy of the Tapestry Collection name. I always appreciate a boutique hotel that features locally made products.
