Tombstone Monument Ranch is an Arizona hideaway. The working cattle ranch is where the deer, coyote and Criollo cattle roam. There seldom is heard, a discouraging word and the skies are not cloudy all day.

Main Street at Tombstone Monument Ranch has an old west boardwalk with 2-story hotel. Two wood rocking chairs are on the porch of the hotel. Blue painted doors and blue painted windows are on the first floor of the false-front, second story hotel. The sign reads Grand Hotel on the second story. A dirt and gravel road is in front of the hotel rooms. Each hotel room has an electric light attached to the outside wall. The light fixtures are designed to look like gas lamps from Western time period.

While it may sound corny to sing Western songs and dress up in denim, cowboy boots and felt hats, this Arizona dude ranch vacation feels authentic. The 17-room guest ranch is designed for couples, families and multi-generational holidays. In fact I saw repeat guests that knew their horses name, as well as the bartender in the Old Trappman saloon.

Ranch lobby has red painted back wall with river rock stone, wood burning fireplace. Right of fireplace are swinging wood doors that open to the saloon. Cow skulls frame either side of swinging doors. Wood floor has a brown and white cow hide on the floor with rectangular wood coffee table on top of cowhide rug. A beige leather sofa has 5 decorative, western-themed pillows on the couch. In front of the fireplace are 2 leather chairs with wood frames. Each chair has a western, decorative pillow. A mauve colored cloth chair, with wood arm handles is left of sofa. It, too, has a western decorative pillow. Across from the sofa is a glass and beige wood display case. A deer antler chandelier is hanging from the ceiling of the hotel lobby.

Tombstone Monument Ranch guest rooms

The 3-star hotel offers 4 room categories. In addition to the standard rooms, there are junior suites, premium suites and deluxe rooms. All rooms are on the ground floor within the Old West town. Guests may stay in a jail room, post office, mining office or even Miss Kitty’s Bordello within the Grand Hotel. Some rooms look out to the Dragoon Mountains. All rooms include air-conditioning, heat, small refrigerator, coffee maker, tv and free WiFi. Bathrooms include tub and/or shower, as well as bath amenities and a hair dryer.

Activities at Tombstone Monument Ranch an Arizona hideaway

If you are familiar with any of my Arizona dude ranch reviews, you know that I’m here for the horseback riding. However, most of the hotel guests that I speak with are here for creating memories with family and friends. With that being said, you don’t need to be an experienced rider to have fun at Tombstone Monument Ranch. This Arizona hideaway offers riding, cattle work, archery, sport shooting and UTV rides around the sprawling property.

My husband likes the heated swimming pool and relaxing hot tub. We both enjoy a round of billiards in the saloon and the live music on offer several nights. Don’t miss the Wyatt Earp lookalike card dealer in the Mineshaft room. He’s very good at explaining Faro, 5-card Draw and Texas Hold ‘Em.

Hotel bar with faux brass ceiling squares, billiards table with red felt tablecloth. Three lamp brass fixture hangs over pool table. Beyond table is the wood bar with counter and bar stools. Across from the bar are 3 circular tables with 4 wood chairs around each table. A pencil sketch of Wyatt Earp is hanging in a frame above the metal fireplace, partially shown.

All-inclusive dining at Tombstone Ranch

This Arizona hideaway offers two dining options. I prefer the all-inclusive dining plan to the Bed & Breakfast pricing as I prefer to eat my meals on property. Breakfast may be buffet style or served by the friendly kitchen staff. On our visit there is scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage and pancakes. Lunch is casual and is available before the afternoon horseback ride, or other ranch activities. Guests have the option for a box lunch if they are going on a long ride.

Dinner is served by staff, beginning with salad, main course and dessert. We share a table with a vegetarian diner. She notes that her food is consistently good. Guests notify the ranch at time of booking if they have dietary restrictions.

A full bar in the saloon is staffed during peak times at Tombstone Monument Ranch. My husband likes the local beer, while I prefer the Tombstone Punch.
