The Lodge at Healdsburg in Sonoma Wine Country

There’s a long list of places to stay in Sonoma wine country, but if you’re trying to stick to a budget, the number of options shrink quickly. The Lodge at Healdsburg, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, a relative newcomer to Healdsburg’s colorful hotel scene, offers comfortable, contemporary options for travelers.

The Lodge at Healdsburg guestroom

The Lodge at Healdsburg opened its doors to guests in December of 2022. Formerly part of the neighboring Best Western Dry Creek Inn, the 60-room property was renovated and split into a separate hotel property. Though the two hotels are owned and operated by the same family, they operate separately and do not share amenities.

The hotel’s 60 remodeled rooms are spread across two floors. I stayed in a King Bed Balcony Fireplace & Soaking Tub room on the second floor. The room featured a king bed, gas fireplace, desk, small refrigerator, and Nespresso coffee machine. (Tea drinkers should note there is no electric tea kettle or tea supplies.)

The bathroom had a spacious vanity with two sinks and a large soaking tub. However, the walk-in shower was tight on space. I was happy to find toiletries provided in large, more eco-friendly refillable dispensers as opposed to the single-use, small plastic bottles still used by many properties.

A window in the wall between the bathroom and bedroom allowed natural light from the outside to make its way in. There was no glass in the window, but shutters could be closed for privacy.

Overall, the room was bright and modern, but it was compact.

Along with a heated pool, the property features two hot tubs, a sauna, and steam room. Courtyards with fountains and fireplaces provide an ideal spot to enjoy a glass of wine on a warm summer evening.

The front desk does double duty as Alexander’s Café and Wine Bar, offering a handful of options at breakfast and in the evening — think quiche, sandwiches and yogurt parfaits in the morning, and charcuterie and Margherita pizza for dinner. Local wine and beer are available on tap and by the bottle. There is no room service.

The lobby of The Lodge at Healdsburg

The Lodge at Healdsburg is about a mile-and-a-half from popular Healdsburg Plaza, home to numerous restaurants, wine tasting rooms, and shops. Charles M. Schulz Sonoma County Airport is only 11 miles from the property; San Francisco International Airport is a bit more than a 90-mile drive.

Rates for a King Bed Balcony Fireplace & Soaking Tub room start at $199. Wi-Fi is included but there is an additional fee for parking. Make your reservations directly with the hotel or check an online booking site such as Booking.com or Expedia for a better rate.

Pet-friendly, The Lodge at Healdsburg welcomes dogs of all sizes. There is a pet fee of $60 per night for the first three nights; anything after the third night is free. Service animals are free.
