Location
The Steigenberger Airport Hotel Frankfurt sits at Unterschweinstiege 16, close to Frankfurt Airport and convenient for both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. The hotel offers an airport shuttle because it is not within walking distance of the terminals. Because of the hotel’s size, the shuttle is a full-size bus.
The location also makes sense if you are arriving by air and continuing onward by rail. Frankfurt Airport has long-distance and regional train connections, so it can be a practical overnight stop before continuing to another German city, depending on when your flight arrives. I
If your trip is built around Frankfurt itself, I would still usually choose a hotel in the city center, closer to the Römerberg, museums, restaurants, and the Main River.
Arrival and Public Spaces
Airport hotels can feel temporary by nature. They see guests at odd hours, with roller bags and jet lag. This hotel also had multiple flight crews arriving at the same time as I did.
The public areas are polished and functional. This is not a tiny boutique property where every corner has been curated for Instagram. Instead, the impression is of a hotel that has learned what airport travelers need: clear circulation, places to sit, food and drink on site, meeting spaces, wellness facilities, and enough services that you do not need to leave the property after a long travel day.
The hotel has a practical public-space layout that works well for travelers in transit. There are places to sit, wait, meet colleagues, check messages, or regroup before heading back to the terminal.
The hotel also has significant meeting and event facilities, which helps explain its size and businesslike feel. Even leisure travelers benefit from it indirectly, since the hotel has the scale to support multiple restaurants, services, and amenities.
Room Features
In an airport hotel, my priorities are straightforward: a comfortable bed, good sound insulation, reliable Wi-Fi, enough space to open luggage, and a bathroom that works well when I am preparing for an early departure.
My room was large enough without being spacious by airport-hotel standards and included practical amenities such as fast Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV, a Keurig machine, a hot water kettle, and a small fridge.
