As fitting its name, the Grand Hyatt Denver recently debut its “grand” million renovation, a fitting celebration of 25 years in the Mile High City. The renovation was hotel-wide and included its Lobby, Conference Center, the Renowned Pinnacle Club, and 516 guest rooms. After nearly 2 years of dust and work, the downtown Denver hotel continues to bring an unforgettable experience to the Mile High City. From the moment you walk into the lobby, feel the mountain vibe, modern yet elegant as befitting a Hyatt in the Rocky Mountains.

The Grand Hyatt Denver is located in the heart of the city on 17th and Welton, just one block from the 16th Street Mall.
Arrival
The AAA Five Diamond hotel is located in the heart of the city on 17th and Welton, just one block from the 16th Street Mall. The off-street valet is your first welcome, and within minutes, they’ve processed your car and your luggage. The lobby is your first wow and visual of the blending of mountain with modern urban decor.
The lobby now features stacked fireplaces embedded in chiseled stone and a wood canopy ceiling, and flexible lounge seating welcomes guests. The traditional registration desk has been replaced by a sculptural root table to enhance the personalization and welcoming of guests by the hotel staff.
Accommodations
The Grand Hyatt Denver’s 516 completely renovated guest rooms continue to be some of the most spacious in the city. The residential-style design is inspired by Colorado with oak headboards, tree branch inspired lighting, and signature buffalo art pieces. The color palette is inspired by the Aspen trees and cool blues of the sky.

The Executive Suite at Grand Hyatt Denver includes an oversized workspace.
I stayed in an executive suite, and it truly caters to the business traveler. Enter your accommodations and be greeted with an oversized living room and kitchenette, including a beautiful table and chairs for dining. This would be perfect for a small get-together with associates or even entertaining clients. Your sleeping quarters is right off the living area, with the ability to shut the door and keep it private. There are adjoining standard rooms, if you want to make it a family or friend night out.
Dining
The renovation kicked off with the opening of Denver’s newest pub, Pub 17 on Welton Street in July 2012. The redesign began with the rebranding of the on-site 100-seat restaurant into the city’s newest pub, Pub 17 on Welton Street, and your primary dining option in the hotel. Other options include drinks and light fare at the Fireside Terrace and your caffeine stop, Starbucks. However, within minutes, guests can step out the door and be in the midst of downtown Denver and its multitude of dining options.
Meeting Space
The Grand Hyatt Denver is well known as place for events, from corporate events to weddings. The finale of their renovation was the redesign of the 38thfloor Pinnacle Club and other meeting space. My first stay at the Grand Hyatt many years ago included dining at the Pinnacle Club, when it was a public restaurant.

The Pinnacle meeting space is on the 38th floor of adjacent building, boasting one of the best views in Downtown Denver.
My recent visit was an a staged presentation of the renovation to media and event planners. The evening included a celebration at the Pinnacle Club. Known for its signature views of the city and Rocky Mountains, the Pinnacle Club offers the iconic, 10,600 mile view spanning from Wyoming to Pikes Peak. This view alone makes the space is the crème de la crop of event space in the Denver area. The Pinnacle Club will also be home to a fancy New Years’ Eve gala this year.
Amenities
In October 2012, the Hyatt then opened Skycourt, one of downtown’s only outdoor “gyms,” with rooftop jogging tracks, tennis courts, workout stations and shuffleboard. While we were waiting for an elevator, we looked down onto the track, and it’s quite impressive.
Summary
It takes a lot to impress me when it comes to renovations, but the Grand Hyatt Denver’s investment is spectacular. The 25-year-old hotel needed a refreshing, and this $28 million renovation will bring the Hyatt back to its super star status in the Denver market. Don’t take our word for it. Stop by the Grand Hyatt Denver, whether to sample the beer or organic menu at the Pub 17 at Welton, or book your getaway in one of their newly designed guest rooms.
Book your room on the hotel website. You can also compare rates online at or Hotels.com.

Diana, your post brought back fun memories of our stay at the Grand Hyatt before rennovations. Our friend who was Pearl Jam’s personal chef was staying there with the band while they were on tour. We just happened to be in Denver at the same time and found out the weekend rate was a screaming deal so we booked a night ourselves.
While we were going up to our room, our son who was about 4 years old at the time, didn’t make it out of the elevator and off he went with a couple who was in the elevator with us. My husband recognized the man as a member of the band.
The couple quickly brought our son back down to us. Our son’s response to being left in the elevator – “You shouldn’t have done that.”
What a great story! Thanks for sharing. Does your son still remember the incident?
