Lobby – Four Points by Sheraton Credit M. Ibbott.
This recently renovated (2023) hotel on Lake Huron’s shores in Point Edward (adjacent to Sarnia), Ontario, is a great option if you want to stay in the province or cross the border into Port Huron, Michigan. Just a few miles from the Blue Water Bridge that connects the Canadian province of Ontario to the American state of Michigan. The Four Points By Sheraton hotel is in a stunning location by the water and a short drive to downtown Sarnia. This is a great choice for families as well as business travelers.
The lobby in this hotel is large with ample seating area, large tables for business clients, and a smaller business center for copy needs.
Location

Lake Huron – Credit M. Ibbott
The property overlooks Lake Huron, close to Point Edward Waterfront Park, Canatara Park Beach, and the casino. There was a golf course that is now decommissioned, but serves as a lovely park area behind the hotel. Point Edward and Sarnia are located one hour from both London, ON, to the west and Detroit, Michigan, to the south.
Rooms

King Guest Room with wet bar and pull-out sofa – Four Points by Sheraton Credit M. Ibbott
In 2023, the hotel was renovated, providing guestrooms with a fresh, updated, modern look. The guestrooms feature plush pillow-top mattresses, 55-inch flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, microwaves, Keurig coffeemakers, in-room safe, and free high-speed WIFI. Room configurations include: king suites, standard king (with sofa beds), or double queen beds, suites, and accessible rooms.

We stayed in a king room with a wet bar and pull-out sofa. It was larger than a standard king room, but if you need even more space, there are also larger extended stay, one-bedroom suites. My recommendation is to request a room facing the park, as rooms facing the Blue Water Bridge can be a bit noisier due to the constant traffic of transport trucks.
I did ask to see an accessible room, and I was somewhat disappointed to see that there was not a roll-in shower but a tub with grab bars and a bench. The room could have been wider to provide easier access for wheelchair users. Just something to consider.
Amenities
The Four Points Sheraton in Sarnia has a sizeable pool, and I was pleased to see that there was an accessible lift poolside for those people needing assistance. During seasonal months, you can access a patio outside overlooking the park.

The fitness center is opened 24/7 and has a variety of equipment, including cardiovascular and elliptical machines, exercise bikes, free weights, rowing machines, stair climbers, treadmills, and weight machines. The fitness center was large and very clean.

Dining
There is only one option, and it is a Boston Pizza restaurant. Although you can have breakfast here, it is separate from the hotel. The avocado toast and coffee that I had were delicious, but if you want a traditional double-double, you can head down the street to Tim Horton’s for a coffee and donut. There are plenty of good restaurants in downtown Sarnia, including Davis Craft Kitchen & Bar, Lola’s Lounge, and the Cromwell Grill.
Overall Recommendation
This is a great hotel for short stays, and the location cannot be beat. Whether you have business in Sarnia, want to go to Port Huron, or even as far as Detroit (without paying the higher price), the Four Points by Sheraton delivers on value and comfort. With rooms ranging from $81 – 137 USD, it’s a very affordable option. There is plenty to see in the part of Southwestern Ontario and Michigan.
