Want 3 Free Nights at Any Red Lion Hotel?

Disneyland hotel

Red Lion Anaheim

Editor’s Update – This contest has ended! Congratulations to reader Morgan Ryder of Washington State who scored three nights at any Red Lion hotel. From her comment, looks like she’s headed to Vancouver, Washington!

Could you drop everything and make reservations somewhere if you got three hotel nights for nothing?

Last fall I was staying at the Red Lion Anaheim near Disneyland for a travel journalism conference where I was a speaker. While there, an off-the-cuff tweet I sent out won me a gift certificate to any Red Lion hotel. At the time I was jumping for joy, but since their hotels are in the western U.S. and I live in the southeast, the stars haven’t aligned enough for me to be able to use it. So I’m making my pain your gain.

Red Lion says I can transfer this to one of our Hotel Scoop readers, the only condition being you need to use it by the end of September. So after you win, you’ve got to make some quick plans. If you’re in the western U.S., that will be no problem though since Red Lion has hotels in nine states plus Victoria, in British Columbia, Canada. Click on the map of locations pictured here to go to an interactive map or here’s a list. You’ll need one of those links to enter.

So what can you expect at Red Lion? Well, not bath butlers and pillow concierges, but also no “resort fees” or annoying Wi-Fi charges. Parking is often included or at least reasonable, the bar won’t gouge you on prices, and you can print out your boarding pass or other essentials without a fee. You get a comfy Sealy mattress and an ergonomic desk chair, in some cities a shuttle ride to what matters, like Disneyland or the Airport. In other words, they make you feel like a valued guest instead of an ATM machine.

Most Red Lions have a pool, fitness center, restaurant, bar, business center, lobby fit for relaxing or working, and a room stocked with flat-screen TVs and a fridge. They also have more style than most hotels in this price range.

So where would you take your three free nights? Downtown Boise? Central Portland? Seattle? Salt Lake City?

How to enter: Take a look at the listings on their site, then 1) like us on Facebook and 2) tell us in the comments below where you would go and why. We’ll pick a winner at random on or about August 1 from all participants who have completed steps 1 and 2 correctly.

Fine print: one entry per person, writers for Hotel-Scoop and their immediate families are not eligible, void where prohibited by state law, open to U.S. residents only, winner must complete their stay by September 30, no purchase necessary. Any tax obligations and incidental charges are the responsibility of the winner.

Good luck and remember to keep up with future contests by following us on Facebook, Twitter, or RSS. See icons to your right and click.
