A timeless fixture in downtown Glens Falls since 1926, The Queensbury Hotel is a grand, Georgian-style property that has long stood as the social and architectural heart of the city. Built as a hub for travelers heading to the Adirondacks, it quickly became a local landmark, hosting everything from elegant balls to community events. After thoughtful renovations and modern enhancements, The Queensbury now blends its historic charm with contemporary comforts.
In 2017, the hotel was inducted into Historic Hotels of America, a designation that recognizes its architectural integrity and cultural significance. Located in a walkable, culture-rich neighborhood near the gateway to the Adirondacks, The Queensbury is more than just a stop between Saratoga Springs and Lake George—it’s a destination in its own right. Whether you’re planning a weekend getaway or exploring upstate New York, this celebrated hotel delivers character, comfort, and a deep sense of place.
Location
Situated right in the heart of Glens Falls, The Queensbury Hotel sits across from Historic City Park, placing guests within steps of local shops, cafés, and attractions like the Hyde Collection, a small but mighty art museum. Saratoga Springs is about 25 minutes south, and Lake George is only 15 minutes north, making this hotel a strategic base for a range of activities throughout the Adirondacks.
Conveniently located, it is easy to ditch the car and explore downtown on foot — whether browsing independent bookstores, stopping for coffee, or grabbing dinner at a local eatery.
Historic Hotel with a Contemporary Refresh

Renovations completed in recent years have revived the hotel’s original character — think terrazzo floors, mahogany details, and a beautiful coffered ceiling in the lobby — while refreshing rooms and adding upscale touches. These renovations included upgrades to the guest rooms, lobby, main entrance, fitness room, and pool.
In the main lobby, guests are greeted by a striking mural by Griffith Baily Coale, depicting a scene from The Last of the Mohicans. The painting’s subject, Cooper’s Cave, is located just a short walk from the hotel. The painting sits above the fireplace and baby grand piano — a focal point where guests gather for music and evening drinks. There’s also a large fireplace, a seating area, and a reception desk attended by friendly staff.
Rooms and Suites

The 123 rooms and suites vary slightly in layout and décor, but all are clean, updated, and designed with a classic touch. On my two visits, I stayed in a renovated king and a double queen-bed room with crisp white bedding, a walk-in shower, and a spacious walk-in closet (a rare find in modern hotels). In both of my stays, the room overlooked the Historic City Park. Being on the upper floors was peaceful, and the beautiful fall foliage was spectacular. The rooms strike a balance between modern function and nostalgic comfort, perfect for a weekend retreat or business trip.
Each room at The Queensbury Hotel is thoughtfully appointed with modern amenities, including a flat-screen TV, desk, Cuisinart coffee maker, complimentary Wi-Fi, and enhanced lighting. Most rooms also feature a wine bar mini-fridge for added convenience. Additional items such as microwaves, cribs, and rollaway beds are available upon request for an added fee—be sure to confirm specific amenities when booking. For pet lovers, the hotel welcomes dogs (up to two per room) for a $75 fee per pet.

Dining: Park 26 and Fenimore’s
Guests have two options for on-site dining. Park 26, the hotel’s fine dining venue, serves breakfast daily (Mon.-Sun.); lunch and dinner are only available Friday through Saturday. After Memorial Day, there is an increase in service hours. Be sure to check with the front desk or the Queensbury Hotel website for up-to-date information.
The dinner menu is varied and offers classic dishes. There is an extensive ‘Butcher’s Block‘ selection, including a bone-in ribeye and a Sakura pork chop. You’ll find thoughtfully plated entrées and a fine dining experience in the tastefully decorated room—a terrific spot for a celebratory meal or relaxed morning start. I highly recommend the Q Benedict Eggs for breakfast—they were delicious.

Guests can also enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner on the Park Patio, which overlooks downtown Glens Falls and the Historic City Park. In warmer months, tables are shaded by the hotel’s signature red umbrellas, while fall brings the comfort of outdoor heaters. In winter, heated igloos offer a unique, cozy, and memorable dining experience. If you’re visiting in July or August, try to plan your stay around a Wednesday evening to catch live music during the Park Patio Music Series, held from 4 to 8 p.m.

Fenimore’s Neighborhood Pub, just across the lobby, offers casual fare like burgers, flatbreads, and salads. During warmer months, the patio is open with heaters and umbrellas. This neighborhood gastropub is popular with both hotel guests and locals, with seasonal cocktails, live music on weekends, and plenty of friendly atmosphere.
Amenities

Pool (currently under renovation)- The Queensbury Hotel – Glens Falls, NY Photo Credit Margarita Ibbott
One of the highlights of this property is its indoor pool and Jacuzzi hot tub (currently finalizing a complete renovation – new decking, ceiling, dehumidifier/air circulation—the pool is scheduled to open May 16, 2025).
Located in a serene atrium with a cupola skylight overhead, the space is clean, well-kept, and particularly inviting when the sunlight pours in. The pool area has accessibility features, including a mobility lift at the pool and a wheelchair-accessible entrance from the first floor – check with the front desk for this option. There’s also a small but upgraded fitness room with new flooring, free weights, and workout machines.
Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property. On-site parking is also complimentary, which is a welcome bonus for a downtown hotel. There are EV charging stations and complimentary bike rentals (during seasonal weather).
You can also make an appointment for a men’s haircut/barber services, women’s hair styling or blow-out, and make-up at The Ruby Salon & Barber. In the summer of 2025, there are plans to expand services to include mani-pedicures.
Service
Service throughout the hotel is consistently warm and professional. Check-in was smooth, and every staff interaction — from housekeeping to the front desk — was courteous and efficient. You get the sense that this is a team proud to work at a hotel with real local roots.
Recommendation

The Queensbury Hotel is well worth a stop if you are visiting the Adirondacks. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, with a view overlooking the Historic City Park. It was the perfect location. It was easy to walk to restaurants and the Hyde Collection. With a thoughtful renovation that respects its 1920s heritage, it delivers comfort, location, and style in equal measure. Although the restaurant, Park 26, had limited service during the low season, this then encouraged travelers to visit this quaint town. Located 3 hours from Montreal, QC, and 3.5 hours from New York City, this is perfect for a weekend road trip.

The Queensbury Hotel suits a wide variety of travelers — from couples looking for a romantic weekend to families stopping over for Adirondack adventures. It also makes a terrific base for fall foliage drives, lake days, or summer festival hopping.
