A week or so on a Caribbean island is my idea of a heavenly vacation. Several new properties are enticing me to travel to the Turks and Caicos.
The Tides
The Tides just opened “150 steps” from Grace Bay Beach on Princess Drive. The boutique property has just twenty stylish suites — and each one has a full kitchen. laundry, and a private balcony with views of the Caribbean Sea.
There’s no on-site restaurant at The Tides, but a continental breakfast is served daily. Flat-screen televisions get both U.S. and international channels. Other amenities? Free parking, free WiFi, a fitness center, and a pool — plus (my favorite) complimentary bicycles to use to explore the area.
The guest suites echo the resort vibe with their white walls, turquoise accents, and wood floors. Kitchen appliances are sleek stainless steel.
At The Tides, one-bedroom suites (830 square feet) start at $425. You can reserve through the hotel’s website or via a booking site like Hotels.com.
Dream Pavilion
The private island resort of Ambergris Cay has welcomed its largest villa rental property, Dream Pavilion, which has six bedrooms — bathrooms en suite. It comes with a private chef and dedicated butler. (In case you’re wondering, it can sleep 14 people. You can stage extravagant celebrations with family or your favorite companions.)
With a rooftop lounge, full gourmet kitchen, ocean-front deck, two pools, and an enclosed courtyard what else could one want? Well, of course, you’ll have indoor and outdoor showers.
The villa starts at $10,900 per night and can be booked at a variety of villa rental sites including Villas of Distinction.
Beach Enclave
Beach Enclave is one hotel with three locations on Providenciales, Turks and Caicos. Accommodations range from two to seven bedrooms, and each villa is attended to by a dedicated personal butler. A complimentary continental breakfast is delivered daily. Housekeeping includes nightly turndown service.
The Beach Enclave concierge can arrange private flights, private boat charters, beachfront dinners, a personalized photo shoot, horseback riding, and other special activities. For fun, check out the beach webcam.
Rates start about $4000 per night. Stays can be booked through the Beach Enclave website and other booking sites like Expedia.
Wymara
June 1, 2022, is the opening date set for four new one-bedroom pool villas at Wymara, a luxury beachfront resort on Lower Bight Road at Grace Bay Beach. Each will have 955 square feet of indoor and outdoor space.
A stay at Wymara includes a complimentary American buffet breakfast plus access to the fitness center, spa, and an outdoor infinity pool.
Rates start at $975. You can book on the resort’s website or via one of the myriad hotel booking sites like Expedia.

The Turks and Caicos Islands are located in the northern part of the Caribbean Sea. It’s a British Overseas Territory southeast of the Bahamas, east of Cuba, and north of Haiti and the Dominican Republic (which share the island of Hispaniola).
Providenciales is the third largest island in the Turks and Caicos chain. It’s the hub of tourism activity and the location of all the resorts I mentioned.
Others on Turks and Caicos that we’ve reviewed for Hotel Scoop include Windsong Hotel and the Venetian Hotel.
