If you’re looking for a little island time with no passport needed, head to the island of St. Thomas. Part of the U.S. Virgin Islands, you’ll feel miles away as soon as your plane lands in this tropical paradise. Your home-away-from-home awaits at Margaritaville Vacation Club – St. Thomas, where you’ll have plenty of room to spread out in expansive suites that sleep up to six people. Best of all, you don’t have to be a vacation club member to reap the rewards of this well-appointed property.

Margaritaville Vacation Club – St. Thomas
Accommodations
Studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom suites are the name of the game at this property on St. Thomas’ east side, and you’ll find they have everything you need (and more!) for your stay. I stayed in a studio room near the bay, and there are also rooms located on the hillside that offer a bit more privacy if that’s your jam. All rooms come with a kitchenette with a fridge, and you’ll find a Margaritaville-branded frozen drink maker on the counter, ready for some frozen fun.
I loved being able to head out on my private balcony to watch the sunset over the water and take in the Jimmy Buffett songs playing from the nearby 5 O’clock Somewhere pool bar. If you want to stock up on snacks or beverages to fill your fridge, the property offers a shuttle to a nearby grocery store a few times during the week.

Dining
You don’t have to leave the property to enjoy the flavors of the island. Head to Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville restaurant for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Whether you’re hungry for a “Cheeseburger in Paradise” or some jerk chicken, the restaurant has plenty of options for all appetites. You can also enjoy snacks and drinks from the two poolside bars, one located by the beach and one on the hillside.

Things to Do at Margaritaville Vacation Club St. Thomas
Whether you prefer poolside lounging or snorkeling just offshore, there’s plenty to do at this expansive property. Consult the daily schedule to find out whether you’ll be starting your day with a deep stretch and meditation class or Aqua Zumba at the hillside pool. Kids’ activities are offered throughout the day, with favorites including poolside bingo and the always-competitive UNO battle.
The property’s on-site dive shop will get you outfitted for snorkeling, which you can do from the resort’s beach, or you can book a sunset sail that leaves right from the resort’s pier. My group headed out on the 50-person Snorkel Cat to enjoy a Champagne toast and island views—the perfect way to end the day.

Shopping and More in Charlotte Amalie
When you’re ready to see more of the island, take the resort’s shopping shuttle or book a taxi to downtown St. Thomas. The capital city of Charlotte Amalie is a busy cruise port town, and you’ll find plenty of restaurants to enjoy a bite. We stopped by Gladys’ Cafe for some curry goat and conch fritters, and I’d highly recommend visiting this spot that’s been in business for over 30 years.
Other things to do in downtown St. Thomas:
- Climb the 99 steps
- Go shopping for souvenirs at the cruise port
- Book a mixology glass at Cardow Jewelers Rum Room
- Sip local craft beers at Taphus Beer House
- Ride the Skyride to Paradise Point
- Visit Fort Christian
