Sitting right along the Arkansas River, the Hyatt Regency Wichita enjoys one of the best spots in town. It’s directly connected to the Century II Performing Arts and Convention Center, which makes it ideal for conference-goers. From the hotel, it’s about a 20-minute walk to downtown or Exploration Place, and the Keeper of the Plains statue.
The airport is only about ten minutes away by car, and there’s easy access to the highways that cut through Kansas.
As someone who doesn’t mind a 20-minute walk, I liked the location. You’re not right in the heart of Wichita. If you step out to the riverside trail, you can take a quiet walk in the morning or catch a sunset without traffic noise.

Public Spaces
The Hyatt Regency Wichita has a modern, understated lobby that feels designed more for functionality than flash. There’s an open check-in area with plenty of seating, and the large windows facing the river fill the space with natural light. The décor leans toward neutral tones, polished floors, light wood, and clean lines. The lobby has one design quirk. If you sit in the middle of one of the two conversation areas, you can be heard perfectly in the middle of the other. So, I wouldn’t tell secrets sitting on these couches.
Off to the side, there’s a lounge and a small convenience market that serves coffee and grab-and-go snacks. The business center offers printing and workstations, and the Wi-Fi was strong enough to handle video calls without issue.

Room Features
My room was comfortable and large. My room had a view of the parking lot, but others will have views of the river or the skyline.
The furnishings are contemporary but practical: a large desk, a mini-fridge, a flat-screen TV, and a couch with a desk-like coffee table. The bed, with its crisp white linens and soft pillows, lived up to Hyatt’s usual standards. The bathroom was spotless, with a walk-in shower, solid water pressure, and Beekman 1802 toiletries. There were USB plugs on the nightstand, which I appreciate.
I also appreciate the motion sensor lights at the base of the bed and in the bathroom, if you need to get out of bed in the dark of night. This is one of my favorite Hyatt Regency quirks.

Conference Center
I stayed at the Hyatt Regency while attending the TBEX Travel Blogging conference and had a chance to experience their conference facilities. The conference I attended was smaller, with about 200 attendees. The Hyatt made for a good host for this conference.
For events, the hotel’s meeting spaces are good. There are ballrooms, breakout rooms, and direct access to the Century II Convention Center, making it a popular venue for conferences and weddings. Parking is available on-site, and while it’s not free, it’s convenient and reasonably priced.

Food and Dining
The on-site restaurant, Harvest Kitchen and Bar, serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast includes everything from omelets made to order to local pastries and coffee roasted in Kansas. At dinner, the menu leans toward hearty American fare—think grilled steaks, roasted chicken, and fresh salads with regional produce. The restaurant is well rated (4.5 out of 5), but not inexpensive.
I did not try the restaurant during my stay.
Room service is available, though the menu is abbreviated. For travelers who prefer to eat out, Old Town Wichita, with its variety of restaurants and bars, is only a few minutes away by car or a pleasant 20-minute walk. I recommend the Doo-Dah Diner nearby for a great breakfast, including banana bread French Toast. For dinner, I enjoyed Bite Me, which is a downtown BBQ restaurant.

Facilities and Amenities
The hotel offers a range of amenities designed to meet both business and leisure needs. There’s a heated indoor pool that overlooks the river, and while it’s not large, it’s inviting and well-maintained. The fitness center next door is bright and well-equipped, with modern machines, free weights, and plenty of space for stretching.
Things Nearby
If you step outside the Hyatt Regency Wichita, you’ll find plenty to see and do. The Keeper of the Plains—a 44-foot-tall steel sculpture at the confluence of the Big and Little Arkansas Rivers, is just a half-hour walk away. Each evening, the surrounding firepots are lit, creating a dramatic glow that’s become one of Wichita’s signature sights.
Art lovers can head to the Wichita Art Museum or the nearby Mid-America All-Indian Museum, both within walking distance. For families, Exploration Place offers hands-on science exhibits that easily fill an afternoon. A few blocks away, the Delano District offers local shops, coffee spots, and breweries that showcase Wichita’s creative side.
If you’re in town for baseball, Riverfront Stadium, home of the Wichita Wind Surge, is right across the river. The hotel’s proximity makes it easy to catch a game without worrying about parking or post-event traffic.
Final Thoughts
The Hyatt Regency Wichita is a solid choice for travelers who want comfort, reliability, and a good location. It’s not flashy or overly luxurious, but it delivers what it promises: a well-run hotel that makes both business and leisure travel smooth and convenient.
Room rates start at about $300 per night.
