Holiday Inn Express & Suites Grand Junction Airport Review

Another Colorado road trip. Another Grand Junction hotel review. This time we needed a pet-friendly hotel. This Holiday Inn Express & Suites Grand Junction Airport review will provide an overview if you are looking for a clean, affordable Colorado airport hotel.

Located off I-70, this Holiday Inn Express & Suites is one mile from Grand Junction Airport and close to the historic downtown. Unlike the 2-star Holiday Inn Express & Suites Grand Junction, this IHG hotel accepts dogs. This was a one-night stay, so we didn’t have time for sightseeing. I’m told the Dinosaur Valley Museum is worth a visit if you like that type of attraction.

My husband noted that “Had the word airport not been in the hotel name, I wouldn’t have known we were staying at an airport hotel.” In my evaluation, that’s a good thing. We much prefer Grand Mesa views to the sight or sound of airplanes filling the sky.

As veteran road-trippers, we prefer to make our hotel reservations in advance. As IHG members, we are ensured a dog-friendly room, and with my Platinum Elite status, we typically receive a hotel upgrade as well.

Holiday Inn Express & Suites Grand Junction room types

There were 12 different room types at this Grand Junction Airport 3-star hotel. The 4-story IHG hotel has 119 rooms and was built in 2009.

We had reserved a king standard room and were upgraded to a king suite, #308. While the suite was larger than a typical hotel room, it was nothing fancy. Bedding, pillows, and pillowtop mattresses make these Holiday Inn Express & Suites stays clean and comfortable. The room had a large desk and flat-panel television. Our well-behaved Labrador Retriever appreciated the treats available at the reception desk.

A coffee maker, work station, and air-conditioning are standard in all hotel rooms. This room included a mini refrigerator. The bathroom, like all Holiday Inn Express & Suites hotels that I’ve encountered, included Dove bath amenities. The hotel made the eco-conscious choice to have wall-mounted shampoo and conditioner bottles in the shower, rather than individual disposable plastic bottles. Hair dryers were also included in the room.

Meals and drinks at Holiday Inn Express & Suites Grand Junction Airport

My husband knew of a nearby pub, so we didn’t take advantage of the in-house restaurant. There was also a bar next to the Holiday Inn Express breakfast room. Obviously, drinks were served during the evening hours, not during breakfast.

Grand Junction Airport Hotel amenities

The Holiday Inn Express & Suites Grand Junction Airport hotel offered an indoor swimming pool with a whirlpool. During our visit, the pool and fitness center were open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Additionally, there was a laundry on site. The fitness center included Elliptical machines, a stair stepper, a treadmill, and a stationary bicycle.

On our December visit, the Grand Junction Airport hotel rates started at $104 with the IHG member discount, excluding taxes. We used our points for this one-night stay. Parking and WiFi were free. It should be noted that there was no airport shuttle available. During our stay, the dog fee was $35 per night.
