I often stay at boutique hotels. However, when it comes to airport hotels, prices rule most of my decisions. Holiday Inn Express & Suites Denver Airport was a good option for easy travel. Located 10 minutes from Denver International Airport, this IHG Holiday Inn Express was a winner in my book.

Four-story hotel with faux beige rock exterior at base of each pillar and the front, middle column of the hotel. Holiday Inn Express & Suites green and blue sign with green H letter sign are on the top of the 4 story building. Twenty four square windows are on front of hotel.

The 4-story hotel was clean, quiet, and easy to access off Highway 470 and Interstate 70 in Denver, Colorado. Check-in was quick and efficient at this 142-room hotel. It was a hot day, and we received 2 plastic water bottles for being IHG Platinum Elite reward members, in addition to reward points. I did a quick visual inspection of the hotel lobby and then took the elevator to our fourth floor room.

The hotel lobby had a beige sofa banquette that served as a barrier between the lobby and breakfast room. The breakfast room had several square tables with 2 and 4 chair layouts. A flat screen tv was on a news station and mounted on the fireplace. Four wall-to-ceiling glass panels faced the outside of the hotel.

We had stayed at Holiday Inn Express Wheat Ridge in west Denver the first night of our 5-night vacation, so this hotel stay was a little deja vu. I had booked a king standard room and was upgraded to a king suite. King suites at Holiday Inn Express properties are not nearly as exciting as they are at say Hotel Indigo Barcelona Plaza Catalunya or InterContinental hotels.

Holiday Inn Express & Suites Denver Airport room types

As mentioned, I had reserved a king standard room through the IHG portal ahead of our stay. I rarely make non-refundable hotel reservations. Instead, I selected the best available refundable rate. On our late August stay, this Holiday Inn Express airport hotel cost us $185.84, including tax. Prices varied depending on the season and events happening in Denver.

The king suite on the top floor of the hotel offered a view of the parking lot and looked at the Doubletree Hotel. Our room was spacious, with a separate living area. The couch converted into a sofa bed that we did not utilize. The Amana heater and air conditioning unit had a wall-mounted control and kept our room cool.

The bathroom featured Dove bath amenities as well as a hair dryer. The coffee area included a Keurig machine, a mini refrigerator, and a microwave oven. There was no wet bar like our Wheat Ridge Holiday Inn Express. The closet held the requisite iron and ironing board, as well as a small safe.

Blue cloth sofa bed and rectangular wood table, with tv remote control, separate the living area from hotel king bed. A large picture window with drapes is beyond the bed.

Denver Airport Holiday Inn Express & Suites amenities

There was no swimming pool at this airport hotel. However, the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Denver Airport did have a fitness center. I loved that this Holiday Inn offered a complimentary shuttle to the Denver International Airport. That’s what made this hotel an easy travel day.

Dogs were allowed at this Holiday Inn Express. During our stay, the charge was $75 per stay, with an 80-pound weight restriction.

Hotel breakfast buffet has sliced bread, in a clear plastic case on the left, horseshoe-shaped white counter. Hot items in silver chaffing dishes are in the center of the counter. On the right counter are individual Quaker oatmeal containers. Three dry cereal cylinders are next to the oatmeal display. Cardboard bowls and plastic utensils are under signs displayed above and below food items.

Holiday Inn Express Denver Airport dining

Some hotel reviews noted that there was a grill restaurant on site, but this was not the case. My husband walked to the sister property, a Doubletree Hotel, for dinner. There was a complimentary breakfast buffet. Breakfast hours were 5:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.

Breakfast items included turkey sausage, biscuits, bacon, cheese omelet, and scrambled eggs. There were blueberry mini muffins, as well as gluten-free muffins, toast, and bagels. I’m always grateful for the refrigerated case that typically holds yogurt and hard-boiled eggs. This hotel offered Oikos Greek yogurt and bananas.
