I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: it’s a little sad to stay at a Holiday Inn Airport hotel. If I’m staying at an airport hotel, it’s because my vacation is ending. Holiday Inn Athens Airport is convenient in Greece. Either flying into or departing from Athens International Airport, this Greek hotel is both affordable and clean. I should know, I stayed here twice in 2 weeks.

I’m an IHG One Rewards gal. This means that I often book Holiday Inn hotels, as well as the more luxurious InterContinental hotels, and their other brands. I typically get upgraded from a king room to an executive king, if there is availability. I am also able to check in early if they have a room available. This is an unexpected bonus on a travel day from the airport to the hotel.

This Athens airport hotel is six stories and offers 180 rooms. It has several elevators and serves guests, flight crews, and business people.
Sometimes I sit patiently in the hotel lobby; other days, I’m lucky to check into my hotel room early. Both times at Holiday Inn Athens Airport, the Greek gods were shining on me. I checked in early for both stays and was upgraded on my departure stay.

Holiday Inn Athens Airport room categories
There are several different room categories to select from at the Holiday Inn Athens Airport hotel. As I mentioned, I booked a standard king room and used IHG points on my first stay. No room upgrades were available. On my departure, I was upgraded to an executive king room.
Of the 180 hotel rooms, the majority are standard rooms, with 11 executive rooms and 3 suites. Unfortunately, I didn’t find myself in the Presidential suite.
All rooms include tv’s, safes, desks, and marble bathrooms. My executive king room had a tub shower combination and featured Dove bath amenities. My executive room included cotton slippers and a white cotton robe. The room also included a bathroom scale. I found this helpful as I’m flying a new-to-me airline with strict weight luggage limits and needed to weigh my backpack. Heaven forbid that I weigh myself after this Greek holiday.

Dining at Holiday Inn Athens
I didn’t have a chance to dine at Ruby restaurant, nor did I use my IHG welcome amenity for a drink at the bar.
Holiday Inn Athens hotel amenities
Holiday Inn Athens Airport hotel offers an indoor swimming pool, as well as a small fitness center. I didn’t have time to try out these hotel amenities. Instead, my husband and I took a taxi to visit the Acropolis. Inside tip: book your Acropolis entrance tickets online before you arrive. We visited during October and were still shut out. Fortunately, there are great views from across the Acropolis.

Depending on the time of year you visit Athens, Greece, rates vary. Rates start at 180-380 euros, including tax. The hotel is not pet-friendly. There is complimentary self-parking.
