The island destination of Puerto Rico has long been a favorite destination for American travelers seeking a tropical escape. The U.S. territory is known for its beautiful sand beaches, rich history, exciting nightlife, and enticing rum drinks. It’s also easy to visit: U.S. citizens don’t need a passport, nor do they need to exchange any currency. And with hundreds of accommodations, ranging from intimate historic properties to grand resorts, there’s something for every vacation budget and style. Adding to the luxury options is the Four Seasons Resort and Residences, which debuted in November 2025.
Situated on a 2-mile stretch of pristine beach about 20 miles east of San Juan’s Luis Munoz Marin International Airport and surrounded by lush tropical greenery, the resort is a thoughtful reimagining of The St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort. Four Seasons assumed management of the property in 2024 and completely renovated the buildings and landscape.
The entire resort stretches across 483 acres of tropical forest, with more than 65% of it considered a sanctuary area. There’s the two-story Casa Grande arrival pavilion, 12 guest buildings, two swimming pools, a full-service spa, tennis courts, a lake with a boathouse and inflatable waterpark, an Audubon-certified nature center with an on-site animal sanctuary, more than 7 miles of nature trails and bike paths, and an 18-hole Robert Trent Jones Jr.-designed golf course.
Staying at the Four Seasons Puerto Rico
The resort offers 139 guest accommodations. Standard rooms with a single king or two queen beds range from 674 square feet to 748 square feet. One-bedroom oceanfront and garden-view suites are 1,255 square feet and 1,295 square feet. And then there’s the spacious 2,510-square-foot Governor Oceanfront Suite.
The decor is bright and airy, with soft beige walls, light woods, and touches of aqua and pale gray. Floor-to-ceiling glass doors open the rooms to balconies or private patios. The spa-style bathroom, cloaked in sandy beige marble, features a large vanity with two sinks, a rainforest showerhead, and a deep soaking tub. Amenities include 45-inch and 55-inch TVs, a wet bar and refrigerator, stocked with beverages and snacks, a safe large enough to hold a laptop, and bedside controls for lighting and drapery. Printers, PlayStations, and Xboxes are available on request.
As for the “residences,” part of its name, the Four Seasons footprint includes 85 private homes with two to four bedrooms. Eight are part of the resort’s rental program. Then there’s Casa Estancias, is an eye-catching glass-and-concrete modernist villa with five bedrooms and a private saltwater pool. It rents for upward of $15,000 per night.
Dining Options
Four Seasons Puerto Rico offers eight diverse dining options, so guests who don’t want to leave the property will never feel as if they’re missing out on local cuisine. El Bembe, the lobby lounge in Casa Grande, serves a tapas-style menu of traditional Puerto Rican dishes. Relax on the patio overlooking the great lawn and ocean while snacking on such island favorites as tostones (fried plantains), sorullitos de maiz (corn fritters), and arroz con pollo (chicken rice with avocado, sofrito, and plantains). And wash it all down with a specialty craft cocktail. I recommend the Flamingo, a refreshing island-flavored sip made with tequila, guava, vanilla, and club soda.
Paros Restaurant, the resort’s specialty venue located in Casa Grande, transports diners from the Caribbean to the Mediterranean through its Greek cuisine, while Sand Dollar, a beachside grill open only on weekends and set near the 18th hole of the golf course, features fresh seafood. American classics, light bites, and local beers, and bento-box cuisine can be had at the Beach Club Restaurant, El Cocoteros Grill, and Turtle’s Nest, respectively. And poolside eatery Seagrapes is undergoing a renovation and will re-open as a Mediterranean grill in October.
Executive chef — and native Puerto Rican — Victor Rosado sources most of his ingredients from local purveyors, while many herbs, greens, and fruits come from the resort’s private gardens.
A Sustainable Stay
Four Seasons always seeks to preserve the ecosystems in which the brand operates. It’s Four Seasons for Good Program centers around two pillars: planet (environmental impact) and people (social impact). Maintaining the resort’s natural surroundings and championing local environmental initiatives is a core value of Four Seasons Puerto Rico.
This starts with the landscape. During the renovations, many non-indigenous plants were replaced with native ones, and the topography was restored to assist with natural cooling. This also resulted in a more attractive native-bird habitat. Today, more than 50 species can be seen flittering throughout the property. Small lizards and large green iguanas are also frequent guests, and at night, the high-pitched chirps of tiny coqui frogs resonate in the darkness.
The resort also collaborates with Alma de Bahia Foundation, a nonprofit that fosters a range of environmental initiatives, including the conservation of endangered leatherback turtles. The resort’s beach is home every year to dozens of leatherback nests.
Four months after it opened, Four Seasons Puerto Rico received Green Hospitality Platinum Certification from Audubon International, ensuring that the property meets environmental best practice standards. Also, electric vehicle charging stations are available for guest use, and electric golf carts and bicycles are on-property transportation.

If You Go to Four Seasons Puerto Rico
As with all luxury resorts, a stay at Four Seasons Puerto Rico comes with a hefty price tag. Room rates start at about $900 per night for a garden-view room during the hot summer months and can range up to $1,300 per night for the same room during the busy holiday season. Suites start at about $1,500 per night (with an advance purchase discount) and can get as high as $2,300 per night. The Governor Oceanfront Suite can run upward of $5,000 per night.
But the resort also offers plenty of packages, starting with the Advance Purchase discount of up to 25%. And with the Stay Longer package, guests who book three nights receive a fourth night for free.
