When I checked into the Delta Hotels Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort in Victoria, British Columbia, it didn’t take long to understand why this hotel is popular with both business travelers and vacationers. The hotel has one undeniable advantage: its waterfront location. Set directly on the Inner Harbour across from downtown Victoria, the hotel offers picturesque views and a quick walk, about 10 minutes via the pedestrian-friendly Johnson Street Bridge, to Chinatown and the city’s heart.

Location
It’s about a 19-minute walk to the BC Legislature, the Royal BC Museum, and 35 minutes to walk all the way to Fisherman’s Wharf. There is also a lovely path from the water’s edge in front of the hotel all the way to West Harbor.
For those arriving via ferry or floatplane, the location is easily accessible, though public transit options are more limited compared to staying directly downtown. The most scenic way to access the hotel from the floatplane terminal is a $15 water taxi.
If you have a car, parking is ample and easy.
Public Spaces
The lobby is spacious and bright, with high ceilings, modern art, and plenty of seating. The lobby blends into LURE Restaurant and Bar, creating a fluid space that encourages lounging with a drink or admiring the harbor through the massive windows.
Outside the hotel are some lovely outdoor spaces for sitting on a beautiful, warm day in May like when I visited.

Room Features
I stayed in a corner King room with a harbor view, and the windows alone nearly justified the rate. The back of the hotel faces south towards the Legislature building at the far side of the harbor. Rooms are spacious and recently renovated with clean lines, soft lighting, and a color palette that leans into ocean tones.
The bed was as comfortable as you’d expect from a property in this price range, with comfortable linens and a good mattress. There’s an ergonomic workspace with multiple outlets, which I always appreciate, along with fast and free Wi-Fi throughout the property. A large flat-screen TV, a small fridge, and a Keurig machine round out the standard offerings. The bathroom was clean and functional, with a walk-in shower, decent water pressure, and plenty of counter space.
I recommend requesting a room on a higher floor facing the harbor. There is no point in staying here and being in a room facing the highway.
Event Spaces
When I was staying there, as many as three simultaneous small conferences took place in the hotel. The Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort has 14 event rooms. The largest of these rooms can hold a reception for up to 500 guests. Weddings are also held on the back porch of the hotel, with the inner harbor as the backdrop.

Food and Dining
One of Delta Victoria Ocean Pointe’s assets is LURE Restaurant & Bar. It’s popular with locals as well as guests, which is always a good sign. I had breakfast there and would gladly return even if I weren’t staying at the hotel. The dining room offers panoramic views of the Inner Harbour, and during the warmer months, the outdoor patio is a standout.
Breakfast includes everything from healthy options to indulgent ones, and I appreciated the cinnamon roll French toast.

Facilities and Amenities
This is a full-service property, so you’ll find everything from a fitness center to a spa. The indoor pool is a decent size and surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows that bring in lots of natural light. The gym is better than average, with modern cardio equipment, free weights, and stretching areas.

Things Nearby
One of the best things about staying here is that you’re just a scenic walk away from most of Victoria’s key sights. I started my morning with a stroll along the Songhees Walkway, a waterfront path that runs from the hotel toward West Bay Marina. It’s less crowded than the downtown harbor walk and offers sweeping views of the city skyline.
From the hotel, it’s an easy walk across the Johnson Street Bridge to take a walking tour in Chinatown from Discover the Past, as I did. You can also get a ride on a tall ship or rent a kayak with Ocean River Adventures from the marina just the other side of the Johnson Street Bridge.
