Who knew that an idyllic luxury ranch was waiting for me 20 minutes outside of Bend, Oregon? Brasada Ranch resort is an ideal vacation for the outdoor adventure seeker.

My husband and I escaped our rainy weather and drove to the high desert of Powell Butte, east of Bend, Oregon. We were more than ready for a Brasada Ranch resort getaway in Central Oregon. The 4-star resort is family and pet-friendly. A former sheep ranch, the high-end resort and residential community is surrounded by 1,800 acres of sage and Juniper trees. On a clear day, head to the deck at the Ranch House. A sign on the deck serves as your personal peak finder, showing the names of all mountains and peaks in the breathtaking Cascade Range.

Brasada Ranch cabin and bungalow options
Brasada Ranch offers three unique lodging options at the Central Oregon resort. Eight Ranch House suites offer adult-only lodging in the main building. Four suites have balcony views, 1 ADA unit, with 4 additional suites downstairs. All suites have access to the Ranch House hot tub and outdoor fire pit, as well as the Cascade Adult Pool for guests 21 years of age and older. As of 2025, the suites have been remodeled with new furniture, carpet, and paint.
Another option is the Sage Canyon Cabins. To date, there are 65 1,2,3, and 4-bedroom options, including 2-story cabins with 2 and 4-bedroom configurations. My husband and I relaxed in a 2-bedroom cabin with a gas fireplace and private hot tub on the deck. Our cabin #51, looked over the 9th tee of Brasada Canyons golf course.
We liked our cozy gas fireplace in the living room and the Pendleton “Grateful Nation” blankets on each of the king beds. I actually looked forward to washing my hands with the Oregon sage olive oil bar soap in the bathroom and kitchen. The sage scent is a perfect reminder of the Central Oregon high desert.
Finally, for the honeymooners, romance seekers, or guests wanting an exclusive experience, the Cascade Bungalows fit the bill. There are 16 luxurious bungalows, 2 ADA units, all with private hot tubs and outdoor showers. Each bungalow comes with a Ranch Rover to cruise around the property. Some of the bungalows are pet-friendly. All bungalows come with a Nespresso machine, minibar with complimentary beverages, a complimentary bottle of Brasada Ranch wine, and a breakfast basket delivered daily to the room. The bungalows are next to the Cascade Adult pool and within walking distance of both restaurants.

Brasada Ranch resort amenities
While there are no longer sheep grazing on the high desert ranch, there are deer and jack rabbits hopping about, while eagles and red-tailed hawks soar overhead. My favorite activity at Brasada Ranch is horseback riding with Brasada Trails. The photo above is from my trail ride to Spirit Rock in Powell Butte, Central Oregon. If horse riding isn’t your preferred mode of transportation, grab an e-bike from the Athletic Center or bring your own mountain bike to explore the trails.
There are also 3 heated outdoor pools, a waterslide, and a lazy river to keep the kids entertained. If that’s not enough, try axe throwing, archery or pickleball, in addition to the 2-story Athletic Center.
My husband enjoys riding in a golf cart at Brasada Canyons’ 18-hole course. Considered 1 of Oregon’s top 15 courses, according to Golf Week, my husband notes that the course is playable year-round. Designed by Oregonian Peter Jacobsen, Brasada Canyons offers 5 sets of tees, with elevations ranging from 3,272 feet to 4,000 feet and stunning mountain views. There is also a state-of-the-art golf simulator on the property.

Ranch House and Wild Rye dining
A highlight of our ranch resort getaway in Central Oregon is dinner at Wild Rye restaurant. Chef Karl Holl makes a juniper-braised lamb shank that is not to be missed. His use of seasonal ingredients is apparent in each carefully prepared dish. Both Wild Rye and Ranch House offer handcrafted cocktails and a nice wine list. There’s also the General Store for sandwiches, platters, grab and go items, beer, wine, and cider. For kids and adults, order the gourmet s’mores kit at either restaurant and gather around one of several outdoor fire pits for stargazing and swapping stories.

Rates at Brasada Ranch resort fluctuate and range from $175 – $500 per night, depending on the season. There is a non-refundable cleaning fee per dog, per night, with a maximum of 2 dogs per reservation. Parking is complimentary, and there are electric car charging stations on the property. I’m told the equestrian program will be expanding. I look forward to returning to Brasada Ranch resort for a further update.
