At Country House Resort in Wisconsin Nature Rules

Country House Resort has balconies that overlook the water.

Enter Country House Resort, in Wisconsin’s Door County, and one of the first framed signs you’ll notice is that of Riley the Courteous Corgi. Unfortunately, the hotel’s canine welcomer is no longer with us, but his spirit remains.

Country House Resort is one of the region’s best-loved dog-friendly hotels with a full amenity program.

Adults (and children 13 and up) are also welcomed at the rustic resort perched on the shore of Green Bay. Walk on the wooded trails, and soak in the beautiful water views all year round. At Country House Resort, you’ll find the quiet sounds of nature are a balm.

In the warmer months sit on the dock, or paddle the bay in one of the guest kayaks. Just a 15-minute walk from the village of Sister Bay, Country House Resort is tucked into 26 wooded acres and has 1,100 feet of private shoreline.

A fountain can be seen on the grounds and a trail leads to the bay.

This four-season resort offers water views from most of its 46 guest units, and its design fits beautifully into the forested landscape. A framed cedar exterior is accented with native stone and private balconies that look out onto fountains, gardens, and the bay.

Many Country House Resort Room Views are of Water and Forest

Longing for a nice long soak? Whirlpool Waterview rooms have a King bed and in-room whirlpool tub as well as a body spray shower with rainfall showerhead. Most popular are the spacious King Water View and Queen Water View rooms with private balconies and views of Green Bay. Other options include the Queen Pool View room that opens to a common deck overlooking the outdoor pool area and the Queen Yard View that opens out to the parking area.

Bedrooms all have free WiFi, coffee makers, and most have balconies.

Bigger suites at Country House Resort include the Carriage House with a two-person whirlpool tub, open beam architecture, and a wet bar. The 2nd Floor Water View Suites sleep up to six people. Plus, they have loft areas overlooking the living room, gas fireplaces, and two-person whirlpool tubs.

For a special treat, the Penthouse offers the most luxurious space. On the top floor of the main building, it is 1,600 sq.ft., and has two bedrooms, and two bathrooms. Also, it features a gas fireplace, a full kitchen, and stunning views of the bay and the resort grounds.

The rooms all have free WiFi, mini-fridges, coffee and tea makers, and flat-screen TVs.

Clean towels, additional toiletries, and trash pickup are available upon request. There is no daily housekeeping but you can indicate on a door hanger sign the need for supplies in your room. In addition, towels and additional supplies can  be picked up at the front desk during office hours.

Doggie Delights

If you have brought your furry friend, there are special dog-friendly rooms available at Country House Resort. Check in with Rover in tow and you’ll be presented with a doggie welcome basket. It includes an all-natural treat, dog towels, furniture cover sheets, information on local dog-friendly businesses, and waste disposal bags. You’ll also get in-room food and water dishes. Plus, dog beds are available if you need one.

Ready to take Rover for a run or to do some business? There’s an unfenced green area directly across the road from the main resort entrance. Also of note, if you have a dirty dog on your hands after a day playing in the water, no worries. There’s an outside dog wash area.

Country House Resort Has a Variety of Outdoor Amenities

If you want to splash around without Rover, there’s an oversized outdoor whirlpool that is open May 5 to Nov. 5 and a heated outdoor swimming pool that is accessible Memorial Day through to Labor Day, depending on the weather.

An over-sized whirlpool is available in the evenings.

Feel like paddling or pedaling? It’s easy to get active since guests are welcome to use the resort’s kayaks and multi-speed bikes. The dock is installed usually by Memorial Day and removed by mid-September. Check with the front desk for exact dates as it is done by a 3rd party.

Or, you can stretch your legs and take a hike along the beautiful nature trail that hugs the bay. If you get tired, there is a scattering of benches along the way. A lovely way to commune with nature and enjoy the fresh air.

Want to hit some balls?  You can take to the tennis and pickleball court, and racquets and balls are supplied. If shuffleboard is your thing, there’s a court available. You can also take part in a horseshoe game, cornhole or a game of badminton. These outdoor activities are available from May to November.
