When I booked a room at ALO Hotel by Ayres in Orange, California, I wanted a hotel close to where friends of ours lived. Orange also happens to be close to Disneyland. Upon checking in, I discovered there is an ART (Anaheim Regional Transportation) bus stop across the street from the hotel. This makes the ALO Hotel by Ayres in Orange an affordable stay near the Magic Kingdom.

About the Location of the ALO Hotel by Ayres, Orange, California

Although Disneyland wasn’t in our plans this year, I tucked this info away for future use. Orange is an excellent location for exploring. Incorporated in 1888, Orange’s Old Towne is the largest historic district in California. Boutique shops, galleries, and trendy restaurants are part of the lively scene. We ate at Smoqued California BBQ, a fun spot for grabbing a craft beer and creative dishes with BBQ as a main ingredient.

Angel Stadium, home of the Los Angeles Angels, the Honda Center, a premier concert and sports venue, and Outlets by Orange are other attractions in the area. From Orange, we explored Crystal Cove State Park, a beach location where tide pools are part of the draw. The state park is free, but you do have to pay for parking through the QR code.

Lobby of AYO Hotel by Ayres in Orange, California

The lobby is a spacious place to hang out after a day of exploring or when the restaurant’s bar closes. Modern, sleek leather chairs, area rugs, an electric fireplace, live plants, abstract art, and an ornamental metal partition create an aesthetically pleasing environment.

When we arrived at night to check in, a group of guests was heartily enjoying this space.  It is perfect for visiting. The staff politely asked them to quiet down a bit because it was after 10:00 pm. They did.

In the morning, the included American hot breakfast of the typical offerings of eggs, potatoes, a breakfast meat, assorted breads, cereal, fresh fruit, and yogurt is served in an adjacent room to the Anepalco restaurant. The partition shelf filled with house plants that delineates the bar from the rest of the room is splendid.
