AC Hotel Ciudad de Sevilla in Spain

We had arrived in Seville, Spain, during the Feria de Sevilla. This annual Spring Fair, held in the Andalusian capital of Seville, is popular with locals and tourists. Thank goodness we had booked advance reservations at the AC Hotel Ciudad de Sevilla in Spain. The 4-star Marriott hotel in Seville joins old with new.

Three black horse head sculptures are mounted, with their muzzles resting on each metal block. The rectangular blocks are set on top of rectangular columns, covered in yellow and black geometric cloth. The wall behind the sculpture display is terra cotta orange.

Situated in a residential neighborhood close to Avenida de la Palmera, we were not in the middle of the Andalusian city. That’s a good thing if you want a restful night’s sleep during Spanish celebrations. We had arrived in Sevilla by bus from Granada, Spain. Our hotel in Granada was also a Marriott Bonvoy property.

What would have been an easy bus ride and walk to the Seville hotel turned into a cultural adventure. Due to Feria, many bus routes were rerouted in the city. On the bus, we were surrounded by ladies draped in flamenco-style dresses and men wearing their best blue suits. It was a wonderful introduction to this vibrant, colorful city.

With only 86 rooms in this boutique hotel, there were several room options. As the building was originally constructed in 1929 and converted to a hotel later, I was pleased to see that this AC Hotel included an elevator.

We had reserved 2 twin beds through the Marriott Bonvoy app. As my friend had Marriott titanium status, we were upgraded to a suite with one king bed and a queen sleeper sofa bed in the living room. Other room choices were standard king and twin rooms, as well as junior suites, king suites, and family king.

On the Marriott website, the copy reads, “freshly renovated AC Hotel Ciudad de Sevilla with the latest in design.” We watched the housekeepers remove the plastic from the sofa bed mattress cover. There was no disputing that this was a brand-new mattress. As my friend was using her Marriott status, I let her take the king bed, while I slept on the very comfortable sofa bed.

Both rooms included Juliette balconies and floor-to-ceiling doors that gave us the opportunity to open our rooms to fresh air. This was both a pleasure and a necessity, as the bathroom toilet was emitting a sewage smell. Fortunately, we could open the window in the bathroom and eliminate the smell.

Our junior suite #302 was spacious, with a circular table in the living room and four chairs, in addition to the sofa bed. The manager had left a handwritten note and a welcome amenity on the table. The room included white cotton robes, slippers, a mini fridge, and a Krups coffee maker. There was a small safe in the master bedroom closet.

Our bathroom included a walk-in shower with Korres Citrus Fresh bath amenities. There was also a hair dryer in the room.

Hotel Ciudad de Sevilla amenities

My friend and I were both excited to use the rooftop swimming pool. Unfortunately, the outdoor pool is only open from spring to early autumn. The remodel appeared to be running a bit behind, as the pool was empty of water and under construction. There was a rooftop area with lounge chairs. However, it was not yet open.

Additionally, there was a fitness room. We caught the local bus every day to explore different parts of Sevilla and didn’t need to log time at the hotel gym.

We didn’t dine in the restaurant. Breakfast was available at the AC Lounge for an additional 20 euros.

Our room was rented for $360 per night and included 2 complimentary bottles of water each day. Check the website for current pricing. Pets are not allowed at this hotel. On-site parking is available to small cars for 19.36 euros per day.
