A Home Among the Napa Valley Vines at the Napa Vineyard House

For most of peope, a home in California’s beautiful Napa Valley is a dream that will go unrealized….unless they book a room at the Napa Vineyard House. Situated just three miles south of Yountville, the inn offers five spacious rooms (plus a 2-bedroom cottage) literally surrounded by vines. Opened in April, 2015, the inn offers guests the chance to feel like they are staying in their own private slice of the valley without sacrificing the amenities and service that come with an inn or B&B.

Each room has a King or Queen size bed, hardwood floors, indoor seating area, and gas fireplace, and is decorated in muted tones of grey that are both soothing and sophisticated. All but one room have outdoor seating areas as well, perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine or enjoying breakfast or a light bite alfresco. All rooms also have breakfast bars (with dishware, toaster, microwave and coffee machine) and a small fridge so guests have the option for snacking in-room or reheating leftovers or takeout from one of nearby Yountville’s many amazing restaurants.

Each room also has a 48-inch TV and free WiFi.

The en-suite bathrooms have either a walk-in shower, or a walk-in shower and a soaking tub, and all bathrooms have robes and slippers plus L’Occitane bath products.

The cottage has two King bedrooms, one bathroom with soaking tub, an open-space living area with a breakfast bar and fridge, and a dining room and private patio.

While the design of each room is clean and uncluttered, there are plenty of thoughtful little touches incorporated throughout: outlets are easily accessible, the window shades operate with the touch of a button, the bathroom floors are heated and – one of the most delicious perks – complimentary Bouchon Bakery breakfast is delivered to the room each morning. The goodies included vary each day, but always include both savory and sweet pastries, fresh fruit, and OJ. Rather than making guests choose a delivery time, the inn leaves the trays outside each room at 8am.

The inn’s homey feeling extends beyond the rooms to the grounds, where a 3000 square foot backyard contains a pergola that shades a fountain, comfy seating, and two iron firepits stocked with Duraflame logs. The inn is also well-equipped for events, such as weddings. In addition to the lawn and deck space, there’s a 700 sq ft  indoor space (including two bathrooms); the inn can accommodate parties of up to 125 people, making it a great place for intimate weddings.

One of the best perks of the Napa Vineyard House is its location on a quiet street right off Highway 29. The inn’s website boasts that it’s just minutes from Yountville – I clocked it at less than three. As an added bonus, the inn provides a free evening shuttle from the property to Yountville, so guests who want to indulge in the fruits of the valley don’t need to worry about driving. The inn can even arrange winery transportation. If owning a home in Napa is a dream, a carefree stay at the Napa Vineyard House is a dream come true among the vines.

If you go: Room rates start at $299 per night, or $750 per night for the cottage. Book online at the hotel website or you can make a reservation on Hotels.com.
