Romance was on the agenda when we booked a getaway at the 202-room Ritz-Carlton Denver, an award-winning downtown hotel. Surrounded by the Rocky Mountains, this Colorado hotel is the perfect setting for a couple’s romantic retreat, with its exceptional accommodations and luxurious amenities.
The Ritz-Carlton Denver is located in the heart of the Mile High City, and it’s a 25 minute drive from our west suburbia home, making for a quick weekend getaway. Within walking distance, guests at the Ritz can access the city’s business and financial districts, shop on Larimer Square, or make it a fun night on the town on the 16th street Mall, or visit museums. It’s the perfect Colorado luxury hotel to get out and see Denver.
The valet desk is literally at the revolving front door entrance, which makes for a smooth transition of dropping off and picking up your car.
The moment you step into the lobby you’re drawn to the spectacular chandelier, and the common area is simply regal. To the left is the on-site steak restaurant (Elway’s) and to the right is the check-in.
Besides the immediate greeting by valet, the reception desk was also as welcoming – as if they intuitively knew we’d arrive at that moment. Smooth as silk check-in had us in our room in less than 5 minutes.
Your room will blow you away. Luxurious, plush, warm and welcome – the rooms are large, at more than 500 square feet (550+ for suites!), the largest in Denver.
The amenities are top-notch as expected from a Ritz-Carlton. Your room will be your haven featuring such amenities as steam-free mirrors, iPod clock radios, and down comforters. Automatic hall light sensors were also a nice feature. The early morning bonus was the combination coffee/tea/cappuccino makers!
The perfect complement to the romantic getaway was access to the Club-Level. A dedicated concierge, relaxed lounge seating and tasty culinary goodies throughout the day. Here is where I also took advantage of the biggest perk – complimentary WiFi!
If you’re a Denverite, I don’t have to tell you about the amazing Elway’s, the on-site steak restaurant off the lobby. Named after Denver Bronco quarterback John Elway, The Ritz Carlton Denver is one of two locations serving some of the best prime beef in the city. Elway’s also has a great bar/lounge area for those wanting to be social and enjoy a nightcap.
Spahhhh! What romantic weekend wouldn’t include a spa treatment? Enter the Ritz-Carlton Spa, and you can’t help but relax. The 6,800 square foot spa is truly an oasis in the middle of downtown Denver. The ingenuous spa staff are always creating new treatments, such as a beer-themed pedicure or massage, and the ‘Scents’ & Sensibility Massage, playing off the Jane Austen classic playing at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. Extend your spa experience by ordering a healthy snack or meal at the Spa Café.
My husband and I needed a wind-down weekend, and we got it at the Ritz-Carlton Denver. The service was impeccable, and the experience lived up to my expectations. But you do pay for the pampering, but we still feel it was well worth the escape.
